The hubby and I recently joined a local Mini Cooper club to find people who love to go motoring with their Minis. We found one called “Norcal Minis” and below are a few pictures I took on this Sunday’s run. We motored winding mountain roads on a very sunshiny day. ‘Twas fun!
The hubby checking out other members’ Minis. He’s a little envious about the Cooper S ones. I can’t blame him, the S has more horsepower. He has resolved to get his own Mini Cooper S in the near future. Gee, talk about real obssession. Sumkinda overrr! hehe.
This is one of the winding mountain roads and there were a lot more that were hella twisty like a darn pretzel. I took this photo while being swayed this way and that. I had to put the camera on a setting that can take several pictures in quick consecutive shots. This is the better one from all those shots. Cursed my unsteady hands and that long, windy road! I should have taken hubby’s picture with a wide grin plastered on his face. He was definitely enjoying the drive.
It’s great to see a road full of Minis, it’s like a Mini Cooper parade. We took a quick stop by a roadside. The leader of our pack suddenly radioed us that they were pulling out of the run because he and his grandson had become sick from all the twists and turns we did. I could imagine how that feels. I once rode at the backseat of a car that was traveling on twisty mountain roads. Man, it gave me such a terrible motion sickness that I had to have a barf bag close to my face in case I regurgitate whatever was in my insides. Bleah! Not a good feeling at all, I tell you. Good thing, I get to ride on the passenger’s seat this time.
My Mini Cooper in chili red after the run. It had survived the first of the many runs in and around California that the hubby and I are planning to join in the coming months. Ah, the lil engine that could.
Well, it’s time to go on our separate ways after having lunch together at Alice’s, a popular restaurant up in Skyline road. I’m not much of a social person and neither is my hubby. This being our very first time to come out and join a club run, we didn’t really make any quick friends. I would remember faces and their Minis. But I would probably forget their names. The hubby was the one who looked around quietly and sometimes initiated a short conversation or two.
As for me, I just watched, took pictures and enjoyed the ride. Isn’t that what a joy ride is all about?
